Welcome to "Precious Memories"! This site is dedicated to showcasing momentoes of our loved ones, in the hopes of stirring memories of our time with them, or the stories we were told by our parents of their families and their experiences. Kate & Eddie's Watches Sarah Catherine "Kate" (Wilson) & Eddie Peterson Johnson were my paternal grandparents. In November, 2001, James told me that Eddie found his watch in a pigpen. He showed me the mark left by the hog who first found the watch. Eddie checked out the watch and was surprised to find it running and in good condition. In December, 1897, Eddie purchased Kate's watch in Paris, Texas as a wedding gift to her. They were married January 2, 1898. The watches are still in tact and capable of keeping time with only minor repairs needed.

Quilt & Chain This handmade quilt was sewn by Kate (Wilson) Johnson for her granddaughter, Kerry (Johnson) Jenkins. The handcarved link chain was created from a single piece of wood by WesTom Johnson, son of Kate & Eddie Johnson and father of Kerry. Both are in the care of Kerry Jenkins. I was only nine when Uncle Tommy (WesTom) died, but I can still remember the monkey and the pair of pliers he carved, also from a single piece of wood. The pliers would open and close just like real pliers.
Pliers & Monkey Here are the pliers and monkey mentioned above. Thanks to my cousin, Earl Johnson for scanning these items and making them available. They have been left in his care. |
